Birth

Some of you may know that I attended the  birth of my good friends baby girl. At the request of my friend I took pictures of the occasion.

It was a Supernatural Childbirth, of that there is no doubt. A series of prints really spoke to me.

They spoke of the connection between the birthing mother & the midwife, as the family prayed at the bedside. For me it was doubly special as the midwife that came on shift just during transition phase, was my SIL, whose births I have also attended :-)

As a special gift for my friend & my SIL I made my own print set of black & whites for them. I tried to find a product commercially that fit my needs but could not. I was really keen for an Artifact Uprising product but the books had too many pages, that couldn't be removed & the square print sets either cut my SIL or my friend out of the image, which negated the whole point of the photos :-/

Eventually I decided to make something myself. Being handmade, hand cut, the lines are not perfect, but I am still very proud of what I have made & most of all, the images.

The photos are of a personal nature and may not be to everyone's taste but for my SIL it's an opportunity for her to share what she does with others, if she so chooses, or pop the lid on the box & tuck the photos away safely in a cupboard.

Rough Patch

I'm going through a prolonged rough patch at the moment.

I know we all have them to varying degrees.

My focus is my family, my children. So non important things need to fall away. That includes blogging, fb etc.

Rest assured I am holding tight to my foundation Jesus Christ.

See you all again soon, here.

IQS - Day 2

It was time to go shopping, looking specifically for the products I had read about in the book. I wasn't necessarily ready to buy, I mostly wanted to scope out availability & prices.

The layout of our local Woolworths store is very confusing (I usually go to Coles) so that was probably my biggest stumbling block in finding what I wanted.

Straight up I found one form of coconut milk.

My next find was Stevia. I was excited it came in a large container & wasn't too too expensive, but when I looked at the panel on the back, it contained sugar...! Say what??

I picked up a box of Stevia that had individual sachets & checked the panel...no sugar. And then I perused the other items on the shelf. A lot of the boxes etc said WITH Stevia. The original container I had picked up said Stevia SWEET.

So first lesson, even Stevia is not always true Stevia. Should have seen that coming....plus on closer inspection the Stevia Sweet, which had added sugar, was twice the price of the box of Stivia that I ened up grabbing. Bonus!

I ended up grabbing a few of the ingredients I thought I could use to make a sugar free smoothie.

Next stop on my walk was the Health Food shop. There I found coconut oil & raw cacao nibs. Very exciting. My most expensive buy of the day was definitely the coconut oil. Everything else I felt was reasonably priced, keeping in mind I expected to pay a little more for sugar free items than regular purchases.

For lunch I made Miss 20 & I omelette using the coconut oil, just because. :-) It was delish!

About 3:30-4pm I started feeling like I'd start snapping necks if I didn't get some Pringles, which is unusual for me as I don't do a lot of snacking & chips aren't usually my first choice if I do! Anyway I ended up standing in the pantry & nibbling some nuts (as you do) and drank  heaps of water & the temptation passed. In fact when dinner time rolled around I felt full before I even ate.

So now we come to my fail for the day. Raw cacao nibs.... I admit it. I drank the cool aid. The IQS book says you can get your chocolate hit from eating raw cacao nibs & I believed :-/. Let's just say I hope they'll taste better when mixed into my smoothie because eating them straight from the pack as recommended...GAGG! I ended up having to eat some real chocolate to get the taste of the cacao nibs out of my mouth...FAIL!!

But today, day 3, is a new day! :-D

...Finding time...

I haven't blogged much lately. I've thought about it but things have just been so busy. We were sick during the school holidays so they were over pretty much in the blink of an eye unfortunately....and we didn't feel very rested by the time school went back :-(

I did have some nice outings with Hubby on his breaks though & celebrated his birthday with our 'little' family...

So I haven't really done any art or craft lately either & figured I wouldnt blog again until I did.

Mothers Day craft blog coming soon....

Mothers Day 2014

I almost did it. I ALMOST had my MILs present ready on time for Mothers Day. I missed the post by one...day... Maybe next year... :-/ (worst daughter in law...ever...!)

Anyway. I'm happy with it. She will love it whenever it arrives.... :-)

This is just a basic Kaisercraft photo 'frame' with an antique white undercoat, crackle medium & raw umber on top. I accented with snippets of paper from the  Kaisercraft Honey Chai range.

The flowers are Prima & the pictures are my own :-)

Oh I got the leaves from Target of all places. Browsing the stationery section one day, the DIY invites collection, I came across gold & silver transparent leaves in packets reduced to $1! Bargain ;-)
